Non Traditional LearningHello Woodland Families,
You may be aware of other school districts in the state who have implemented Non-Traditional School Days when school has been cancelled due to inclement weather. These Non-Traditional school days enable students to continue learning from home and, as a result, fewer days would be added to the end of the school calendar. Hardin County Schools is in the process of collecting data in order to possibly implement Non-Traditional School Days in future years. Hardin County Schools has decided the best way to make Non-Traditional School Days effective is to deliver instruction online. However, we must first determine the percentage of students who have access to the internet via desktop computer, laptop, phone, tablet, Chromebook, iPad, etc. In order to gather the data needed before Non-Traditional School Days can be a reality, we will be assigning at least four (4) online homework assignments over the coming months. These assignments will be mandatory. If, and only if, a child has no way of accessing the internet, he/she will be given an alternate paper assignment to complete from home AFTER the online assignment has been collected. The best way to make Non-Traditional School Days a reality is for every student capable of accessing the internet to complete the assignment from home.
